Let's pretend I'm posting this on Tuesday. We are only a little over a week in, and I'm already doing an amazing job of running behind updating the blog.
On Tuesday, Miss Hollon turned one week old.
This little girl might be a little spoiled rotten. We are all smitten with her. Daddy, mommy, and brother. She is a little cuddle-bug and loves to be held. We just feel so blessed to have her part of our family.
One Week Old Recap:
Likes: To be held. Eating. Pooping in clean diapers. Pooping with no diaper on. Eating her hands.
Dislikes: Hiccups. Changing clothes.
Milestones: Nasty part of the umbilical cord fell off.
Nickname: "Squeaky". When she gets the hiccups, she sounds like a squeaky dog toy. And it is so loud.
Sleep: Right now, she is sleeping in the pack-n-play in our room. With Jake, he immediately started sleeping in his crib once we got home from the hospital, but that was really because we had no other place for him to sleep upstairs. Our house in Chattanooga, all of the bedrooms were on the 2nd floor, and the pack-n-play was on the 1st floor. So he had to sleep right away in his crib. In our Birmingham house, the pack-n-play is in our room, since all of the bedrooms are on the 1st floor. Since I'm having to get up & feed Hollon once a night, it makes it easier for her to just sleep in our room. We've got the changing table on the pack-n-play and the rocker from Jake's nursery (which is the most comfortable rocker in the world) all right there a few steps from our bed. With my c-section scar, it makes it easier to not have to lean over the tall crib & changing table in Hollon's nursery. But shortly we will be moving her to her room.
Eat: She is a very good eater. She actually latched easier & quicker than Jake did. During the day, she eats every 3 hours. I try to feed her one last time before I go to bed (either 10:00 or 11:00). Then I feed her once during the night (between 2:00 or 3:00). Her first feeding of the day is when I get up to get our day started (usually around 5:30 or 6:30). I'm hoping in a few weeks, we'll drop the middle of the night feeding. Right now, I'm letting her make the schedule with just a little guidance from me. Once she is a month old, we'll hopefully get a little more formal eating & sleeping schedule.
Play: At her age, Jake loved the bouncer. He would sit in it and just happily watch. Hollon doesn't share the same love. She doesn't mind sleeping in it, but she isn't going to just sit in it and watch you. Not sure if this is because she just isn't feeling the bouncer or if it is because she just likes being held.
1 Week Old Doctor's Appointment
Also on Tuesday, we had Hollon's 1 week old doctor's appointment with her pediatrician. When Hollon was born, she weighed 6 lbs 15 oz. When we left the hospital, she weighed 6 lbs 8 oz. At her 1 week appointment, she weighed 7 lbs 2 oz. So my milk has definitely come in and she is definitely eating well. She looks good & doesn't have to come in for a 2 week appointment. Since she is a breastfed baby, we'll come in for a weight check in 2 weeks, but we won't have a formal appointment until her 1 month checkup.
