Baker's Farm

Thursday, April 19, 2012
Jake went on his first field trip. His class & a few others went to Baker's Farm. It was fun to tag along! It was fun to see Jake play with all of these little friends that he talks so much about. It was a wonderful morning.
Jake & Mia

Playing in the field before going into the farm. They could have just ran around that field all morning & been happy.

Petting the baby chicks. Jake would have no part of it. One of the baby chicks jumped out of the box & landed right in front of Jake. I have never seen him move that fast. He was out of there.

Jake & his friend Miller

Jake with his corn on the cob. The farmer showed them how they shuck the corn & make feed for the animals. Jake kept calling it "coin".

Feeding the goats the corn

While they were supposed to be attending the petting zoo, Miller & Jake sword fought with the hay. Boys.

I finally convinced him to at least acknowledge the bunny. He quickly petted it & then ran back outside.

Looking at the calf

The highlight for all of the kids was playing on the hay bails. They were all crying when we had to make them get off so we could go on the hayride.

Jake & his school best friend Carson. We hear about Carson ALL.THE.TIME.

Happy 4th Anniversary

February 4, 2006 - I defied the odds & met the man who would become my husband at a late night establishment. (He was not a complete stranger though! He was there with his old roommate from Auburn, who was with all of my Troy college guy friends that we were meeting up with.)

April 20, 2007 - On our way to a baseball game to meet friends, Robbie pulls over off the side of road onto a shoulder overlooking downtown Chattanooga. He wanted to take some pictures. I refused to get out because I didn't want to look like a tourist. When I realized how flustered Robbie was getting by my not getting out of the car, I realized that I must be messing something up. Thankfully I got out (and risked looking like a tourist) so that Robbie could propose. Of course I said yes.

April 19, 2008 - The day I married my best friend.

April 19, 2012 - 4 years later, I still look back on our wedding day & smile. It was the best day of my life. I wouldn't change a thing about our wedding. To take that sacred vow before God, with the man that I love, and then to celebrate with our friends & family, it was a perfect day.

Here is a video montage that our videographer (my friend Mark Hendren of Mark Five Productions, he is AWESOME!!)  made of the day. To be honest, I don't think we've ever sat down & actually watched our whole wedding video. But we watch the montage all the time. The quality is not the best watching it on a computer, but it is the perfect recap of our perfect day. And my eyes still water 4 years later when I watch it.

Happy Anniversary Robbie! All my love, Emma

Easter

The Saturday before Easter, we headed down to Prattville to see my family. Their church was having Egg-citement that day, so we all attended.

Sliding!

After Egg-citement we headed to my parent's house so the kids could play & have an Easter egg hunt.
Ready to find eggs

Jake insisted on hunting with 2 baskets

Racing for an egg

After the egg hunt, the kids played up & down the driveway all afternoon long

Wrestling with Gran

My poor dad, I think the grand kids think he is just a big cousin

My sister got the kids a kite. So they decided to try to fly it.
On a day with no wind. Not winning.
Uncle Brooks trying to get the kite in the air.
After multiple failed attempts, my oldest niece Maddox asked
Aunt Lindsey how much the kite cost.

Aunt Lindsey also got them Easter glasses

Maddox actually got the kite up the highest

Saturday night on our way back to Birmingham, we stopped by to visit the Easter Bunny

Easter morning!

Happy Easter!
(Mimi made his Easter outfit [thank you Mimi!!] Unfortunately I didn't get my part finished before Easter. It now as his monogram on it.)

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." 1 Peter 1:3

Side note unrelated to the beautiful meaning of Easter: The Friday before Easter, I take Jake to get a haircut. His hair grows so fast & before you know it, it just looks long & stringy. Especially in the summer when he sweats. So I decided to go for a new hairstyle for him (do 3-year-old boys have hairstyles?). The result (as seen in the pictures above), is he looks like the long lost brother of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt (as seen below).
