Week in Review - New School Open House, Granddad's Birthday & Slime

We got back from the beach on Saturday. Sunday, it was ready to get back into routine after being on vacation a week.
The kids after church
Sunday afternoon was exciting, because we got to tour Jake's new school! Last year, our school district separated from the county and we created our own city school system. We previously had an elementary school (K-2) and separate intermediate school (3-5). They built a new school (now Pelham Ridge), remodeled the intermediate school (Pelham Oaks) and we now have 2 K-5 schools. We are zoned for the new school. Unfortunately it wasn't ready for the start of the school year, but they finished it up this fall and the teachers used fall break to move their stuff in. On Sunday, all of the students and families got to tour the new school. It is beautiful!

Jake's favorite is library, so he was excited to tour the new library and all the new books.

The Bush's watched Hollon so we could focus solely on Jake. It was also Chuck's birthday, so we invited them to stay for dinner and Robbie grilled out steaks.

Jake drew Minnie Mouse for Hollon. I love it!

Such a sweet big brother. He'll even play kitchen with her.

We didn't have a real cupcakes, so we sang Happy Birthday with Hollon's stuffed toy cupcakes.

Back to reality. Back to school. Back to the ball field.

Hollon and her buddy Bailey who had just finished soccer practice

I think we all felt this way Hollon about getting back to reality

She was trying to use her muscles to open the garage door

Playing before school

This picture cracks me up, because she is playing with a Star Wars figure

That afternoon, when Jake got home from school, I gave them some $1 slime I had picked up from Target. Best $2 spent! The kids loved it! It occupied them while I got dinner started (a time they usually melt down or insist on playing with electronics).

Yea! It is Friday!!

Slime was still as much fun on day 2! Hint - do not let your kids walk around with it! Jake was walking around with his and he dropped it on the rug. It picks up every piece of fuzz, dirt and crumb. After a quick save from mom, the slime was saved and could only be played with at the table after that.
Funny story - Hollon kept calling her slime "pupa" (purple). When she wants to play with it, she'll just keep saying "pupa, pupa."
