Wednesday afternoon, we left Birmingham and headed down to Seagrove, FL. This is our 4th year to take this trip with our friends from Chattanooga. Last year's trip was recapped here & here. 2014 is recapped here and 2013 is recapped here. The first two years, we were only in town for the weekend. To drive that far and only spend 2 days on the beach, just wasn't long enough. Last year, we stayed for 6 days. While 6 days down at the beach was awesome, it was tough by the end on the kids. So this year, we decided to try a 4 day trip. I think we found the sweet spot!
Day One
Thursday was our first day out on the beach. Last year, Hollon was unsure about the sand and ocean. I was excited (& nervous) to see what she thought about it this year. To our pleasant surprise, she didn't hate it! (She wasn't exactly jumping for joy, but at least she didn't cry!)

Jake is our beach child. He has always loved it, since his very first trip (here).
What a difference a year makes!
This year, Hollon didn't cry about the sand, but she was unsure of it.
She liked the ocean
Any time a splash from a wave would get on her face, she'd lick her lips.
Addie is 6 and just wrapped up first grade as well |
And Tyler is 3.5 |
Hollon's favorite was to sit in a chair and eat snacks
Afternoon nap on the beach
Please note how clean her feet are. Every time she would sit in the chair, she expected someone to wash the sand off her feet.

Day Two
Friday got off to a little bit of a rough start. Addie woke up with a throwing up. We all looked at each other with panic. Was it a virus? Did something just not sit well in her stomach? Is it a fluke? We kept a low key morning and everything seemed fine. We'd decided it must have just been something she ate. And then Tyler threw up. Rut-row. I swear, being paranoid waiting to see if the virus hits you is almost as bad as actually having a virus. Thankfully, it only seemed to impact Addie & Tyler, and everyone else avoided it. So after lunch, some of us ventured down to the beach.
This next sequence of events were too funny. Hollon was fine playing in the sand, as long as she was still. But each time she would move, she'd want you to wash off her hands & feet. She also didn't like walking in the sand. She wanted you to pick her up and move her to another area. I was busy snapping pictures.
And then tragedy happened. Her knee touched the sand. And she freaked.
And I was the mean mom that just kept snapping pictures because her facial expressions were too funny
Trying to stand up while touching as little sand as possible
And yes, I put down the camera after that and helped her wash the sand off. Just for her to move to another area and play in that sand.
That night for dinner we ate at the Old Florida Fish House. It is super close to the condo and we had never eaten there. It was so good! The atmosphere was awesome, food was great and it was kid friendly, without being obnoxious.
Pictures went downhill after that
Days 3 & 4 will be recapped tomorrow!
