We always have a small family birthday party for Jake on his actual birthday (Dec. 24), and then a "friends" party later on in January. For Jake's birthday, we cooked him waffles (his favorite) and then took him to Wal-Mart to pick out any toy he wanted. (Jake gets much more excited if he gets to "pick out" and "pay for it" a toy verses, just wrapping something up & giving it to him. Plus, he would never really tell us what he wanted, so we figured we'd just let him pick it out.) He picked out a $15 power ranger. We felt bad, so we let him pick out a DVD too.

For lunch, my parents came up, Robbie's parents come over and his sister & family had just gotten into town, so they came over as well to celebrate Jake's birthday. We had Mickey Mouse cupcakes & Jake got to open birthday presents.
