Week In Review - Art Show, Baseball, Field Trip & Fun Run

Super busy, but super fun week last week!

On Monday, we were at my in-laws and there is a corner that their pug Bruiser likes to hang out in. Hollon was keeping him company and trying to share her skittles with him.
Judging by Bruiser's face, I don't think he wanted a skittle

That night, Hollon had her art show at school. I was trying to decide what shoe color she should wear. Hollon was trying decide if she should wear a hat.

Hollon's art work!

Hollon with her precious teacher Ms. Donna. Ms. Donna is retiring this year after 20 years of teaching preschool. She will be so missed!

Ms. Donna couldn't find the meaning of the name Hollon, so she had to use Hollon's middle name :)

We had to hurry through the art show, because we had to make it over to brother's baseball game!

It's Tuesday!

That afternoon, we went to the park

Doc McStuffins Wednesday
Dad left early this morning, so it was just me and the kids until Friday

I include this picture, because it is one of the funniest faces Hollon makes. Since this is my memory book, I want to remember this face, even though it means she was probably mad at me for something! (And I have a feeling we will see this face many times through her teen years, so I want to remember it now, when it was cute!)

Poor short little legs. This dress is a 2T and still so long!

Almost the weekend, it's Thursday!

She made hearts out of playdough

This is our last season of bubbles, so I take a picture from every angle whenever she has one on!

Rob is one of the coaches for Jake's team and he cannot stand to miss a game. Unfortunately for him, he is traveling almost every week in May, so he is missing quite a few games. Unfortunately for me, that means I have to text him a play-by-play of the game. While dealing with Hollon (thankfully with the help of sweet grandparents!).

Jake got the game ball! I've been so incredibly proud of Jake this season. Jake is not the kid that just picks up a bat and knocks it out of the park. He doesn't have that instinct to just know what to do on the field. This is his 4th year playing, and he still gets confused. But he tries so hard. And he works so hard with Robbie. His fielding has improved (we had a little set back after the eye injury and he is still shying away from the ball some), but most of all, his hitting has improved. He has the 3rd highest batting average on the team and our team is undefeated! Jake might not hit the ball to the fence every time, but he consistently hits the ball hard. And it is not by natural talent. He has worked so hard, and it shows. I'm most proud, not by his ranking, but by his determination. He hustles on the field, he listens to his coaches, he encourages his teammates, he tries his hardest. And that is what makes me so incredibly proud.

He also wanted me to take a picture with him sticking his chest out, so, in his words "it looks like I have big muscles".

On Friday, I went with Jake on his class field trip to Old Baker's Farm

We were trying to get a class picture, but all these other kids kept jumping in

We have been so blessed with an awesome teacher this year and a great class

We have been on this field trip every year since Jake was in 3K preschool. So this is our 6th time to go! I never get tired of hearing Mr. Baker talk about his chickens and his farm. He is the sweetest man and we love supporting his farm.

{Here} is Jake's first visit to Old Baker's Farm!

It was a beautiful afternoon, so we hung out outside that afternoon and enjoyed dad being back in town.

Saturday, we had his school's first annual Color the Ridge Fun Run.
Jake, with one of his good friends from class Mason

Hollon was just excited that the run was by a playground

All clean before the run!

Once all the kids went to line up, Hollon had the playground to herself. Dad stayed with her, while I hung out with some other moms and took pictures of the runners.

Jake getting ready to run

He walked the first 2 laps with his friend Mason

Then he ran the last 2 laps

Afterwards with his friend Baker

After the run and group color bomb

 Meanwhile, Hollon just kept playing

They had PRES flags. We all kept trying to get a picture of Hollon waving hers, but we were never successful.

Afterwards we treated the kids to the ice cream truck

We ran a few errands, but then hurried home, because our cousins from Atlanta were coming to visit!!! That post coming next!
