The previous Saturday, we were in Prattville for just the day to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. Jake had a meltdown the entire way home on why he couldn't stay with Nana & Gran. Sweet Nana & Gran offered when I asked to let the kids stay with them the next weekend, which was the weekend of the Auburn/Miss State game. Jake was beyond excited. And so was mama for not having to lug both kids to the RV & game.
Jake shows up Friday & finds out that Gran had built him a Ninja Warrior course. Back story: Jake loves the show American Ninja Warrior. Gran mentioned something in passing about building something for Jake. Well, Jake has not let him forget it. Every time he sees Gran, he asks if Gran has built his course yet. Now, Jake is thinking an exact replica of what he's seen on television. I'm not sure Gran envisioned spending $1 million on this course in his backyard. But Jake was fully in support of it in case he did.
Gran built Jake his own personal Ninja Warrior course. Jake was so excited. Never-mind the fact it was built from random supplies found around the farm and was probably a hazard only being held together by rope. Let's just say, this American Ninja Warrior course would probably air on CMT. But in the words of Jake "it was the most awesomeness thing EVER".
It is very important to look like the unabomber when practicing |
If an obstacle course held together by cement bricks doesn't scream safety, then I don't know what does. |
Uncle Billy was extremely excited to get to help monitor Jake's training. Billy was not quite as confident as Gran was of the safety of the course. As my brother was telling me on Sunday, "A metal 'ramp' with sharp edges that keeps sliding leaned against the bed of truck. Yes, an extremely good & safe idea." I noticed neither of Billy's girls practicing on the course.
And no, my brother is not acting for this picture |
In the meantime, Hollon was enjoying the attention from everyone else. Especially her favorite MoMo (cousin Marrell).
Please notice Jake in the background |
My favorite Jake story from the weekend:
They were all in Walmart and Jake proclaimed he was starving and wanted to pick out a snack for Nana & Gran's house. He & Gran went to find the perfect snack. Jake comes back holding a bag of white mint lifesavers. Nana thought it was odd, but let him get it. (Side note: Jake HATES anything mint flavored.) The next morning, before church, Jake asks Nana if he can have one of his donuts. Mom said she didn't think they had any donuts. Jake argues with her that they do, because he bought some the day before. So Nana says okay, she guesses she just didn't notice him putting them in the cart. She tells Jake he can go get one. Jake comes back holding the bag of white mint lifesavers. Hahahahaha! He thought they were mini donuts.
In the meantime, mom & dad enjoyed a kid free weekend in Auburn.
THANK YOU SO MUCH NANA & GRAN!!!
