Fall Break - Last Beach Trip of 2015

During the summer, I looked at the calendar and realized that by brother's family's fall break overlapped with our fall break. So we reserved my parent's condo at the beach for a long weekend. Unfortunately, Jake ended up having a football game on Monday, so we had to come back on Sunday. It was a very quick trip, but we packed a lot of memories into it!

My parents bought a paddle board and kayak. The kids had a great time on them.

This is what Hollon thought of the beach.

Hollon with Nana & Gran (my parents)
Her face was like this for the first 30 minutes we were down at the beach.
Slowly warming up to it as long as she didn't have to touch the sand or water and someone was holding her.

While Hollon was deciding if the beach was the worst place on earth, Marrell was handling the paddle board like a champ

And when I said Hollon was slowly warming up to it, I meant very slowly.

This is what she did when we barely put her feet in the water

Meanwhile, the 3 older kids were having a great time. Jake has been dying to surf (which would probably be as successful as his brief skate boarding stint). The paddle board is going to be as close to surfing as he will get for a while.

He loved it
(And was really good at it as long as it was on the sand and not water!)
This was Hollon's face during all of this....

Hollon finally let us put her in the sand as long as Marrell was there to play with her. When I tell you that Hollon ADORES her girl cousins, I mean she really adores them. She just lights up whenever Maddox or Marrell come around. I think she thinks she is as old as them.

As soon as Aunt Leigh Ann got up, Hollon snagged her chair. This was right up Hollon's alley.

Marrell got up on the paddle board by herself!

After Hollon found cousin happiness, then chair happiness, she then hit the jackpot. One of the big kids left an empty capri sun on the cooler. Hollon loves playing with an empty capri sun. (No joke, it will entertain her for the longest time. She loves putting the straw in and taking it out. Santa, take note.)

We went to the pool for a little while and then up to the condo to clean up.

Last time we were at the beach, Hollon was not very mobile. She was excited to explore this time.

Exploring amazing things like the garbage can
And stretching on the ottoman

Her hair is starting to get longer & fuller
My sweet parents watched the kids so my brother & his wife and Robbie & I could go out to eat.

Cousins! Very typical picture. Jake is mad I'm making him stop and take a picture. You can barely see little Marrell, Maddox is having to manage wiggly Hollon & Hollon's eyes are close.

Sunday we all went back to the beach that morning and then Robbie, Jake, Hollon & myself headed back to Birmingham. It was a short trip, but a great one!
