Summer Weeks 9 & 10 - Girl's/Guy's Weekend

The 9th week of summer, was Jake's last week at summer camp & Hollon's 2nd to last week at daycare. I can't believe summer is coming to an end.

One night after dinner, the kids wanted to play outside.

Any time they see an iPad open up, they are like vultures.

Tuesday was splash pad day at Hollon's daycare.

One of her new favorite things is to watch Minnie Mouse videos on my phone. She will keep saying "Minnie Mouse Yellow, Minnie Mouse Yellow". (She calls a phone 'yellow', I think she is trying to say 'hello'.)

Ready for a rainy Wednesday!

Her best gymnastics move

Jake got camper of the week again! So proud of him!
He is 2nd from the right
That weekend, the Bush's were watching the kids, because I had my girl's weekend in Santa Rosa and Robbie had his boy's weekend in Chicago.

Stephanie, Amanda & I all met as Freshman Phi Mu pledges at Troy University in the fall of 1997. We became best friends and have remained close over the last 19 years. At least one weekend a year, we plan a trip, just the 3 of us. No kids. No schedules. No responsibilities. Just sitting around laughing, reminiscing, going out to eat, staying up late, shopping and enjoying each others company. It is one of my very favorite weekends of the year.

My view for the weekend. A few years ago, Amanda & her husband bought this bay house as a vacation home right near 30A. They gutted and remodeled the entire house. It looks like something out of a magazine. We used to pick a different city to go to each year, but the last 2 years, we've just come to the bay house. It is just so perfect and easy, we have a hard time going anywhere else!

Saturday night, we were eating at a very nice restaurant. We ate dinner on the patio and had finished our meal, and were just finishing our drinks. We look over to see a cockroach! It was HUGE. (It is that big black dot in the picture below.) Stephanie & I are both deathly afraid of cockroaches, so brave Amanda tried shooing it away. And it worked. But then it flew back! We were screaming running around this tiny patio trying to get away from it! It was the craziest, funniest, scariest thing.

Meanwhile, Rob was living it up in Chicago

And the munchkins were having fun at Mimi & Granddad's. Thank you Mimi & Granddad!!!

We were all back together Sunday afternoon and ready to enjoy our last full week of summer.

My kids LOVE to play in the car. Especially Hollon. One day, we'd gotten home from picking up Hollon and they wanted to watch a movie. In the car.

Hollon likes to sit in Jake's seat when she plays in the car
She was so wiped out, she didn't even wake up when I took her picture

Jake picked to play fall baseball this year instead of football, so we've been practicing with some friends in the evenings.

In the mornings, I'll put Mickey Mouse on for her while I get her stuff ready to go. But then she won't look at me to take her picture.

That night at baseball, it had rained earlier, so there were some huge puddles. In the rush to get out of the house, I completely forgot to grab Hollon some shoes. I kept her in the stroller for as long as I could, but that only lasted so long. As soon as I let her down, she ran straight for the water.

Last day at CCS! Hollon didn't really care for the kids in her class (I think because there were so many), but she adored her teachers. And she had fun playing and all of the activities they did. She would call it "go play, go play". It was a great summer experience.

That afternoon, we were getting ready to go on a mini-vacation with my family to Stone Mountain (that post coming next!). I had my nephew Woody's birthday gift by the door, since his birthday was in July. I walk in to find that Hollon had found it, pulled the tissue out and was trying to open the gift. She thinks all gifts are for her. #spoiled
