July 31 - August 2

We took a mini vacation to Charleston with the Bush's over the weekend. It was my first time to visit Charleston. Such a fun & pretty city! And Jake loved getting to spend time with Mimi & Granddad.

At dinner Sunday night. The restaurant was right on the water. Jake loved it!

Monday morning we went to Folly Beach.
Jake was very brave around the water (a little too brave for my taste)

Jake loved running down the beach
Chasing daddy

Jake loved trying to sneak out the door to run down the hotel halls. I'm sure the people around us & under us loved us.

Of course Jake saw the fountain, and had to touch the water. It started as simply as this.
Then moved on to this
And ended with this
At dinner a little while later. The expression on Jake's face is a classic one of his. It's his "I think I'm being cute but I'm really acting like a bratty toddler in public". Jake was wound up by this point. He kept yelling noises & running around. I couldn't be too mad at him though. He has been off schedule for almost 2 weeks at this points and has spent the last week away from home. But I was really beginning to dread the 7 hour drive home with him the next morning!
Enjoying some man talk with Granddad
The drive home was thankfully not as bad as it seemed Monday night. We did have to listen to 6 hours of Sid the Science Kid (we thankfully got a small break while he napped). We only have 2 DVD's of Sid and each DVD only has 4-5 short episodes. So needless to say, Robbie & I know every song & every bad joke. But if it meant not having to hear Jake whine, I didn't care! (We tried putting in DVD's of other shows or movies, but he just is not interested. Only Sid.)
Thank you to the Bush's for inviting us along on such a wonderful & enjoyable trip. We had such a great time!!

July 26-30 (Post by Jake Bush)

Finally, my mom is letting ME (Jake Bush) write a post. So there will be no sappy stories, photos of me wearing sissy clothes & NO naked pictures.

My daycare's air conditioner went out, so I was going to get a 2 day break from school. YEA! Because mommy & daddy were super busy at their daycares that week, I got to spend the whole week with Nana & Gran. It's a whole new different world there. There are all kinds of foods they let me eat & fun stuff that mommy & daddy would never let me play with at our house.

On Monday, Nana & Gran were also watching my cousins Maddox & Mo-mo. I love my cousins so much (even if they are girls!). We played hard all day. We rode on Gran's Gator (Nana was too busy making sure Gran didn't go too fast to take pictures.) We also played in the outside bathtub. For some reason, Nana & Gran were too scared for us to play in the big bathtub, so we had to play in the smaller one. It was still lots of fun!

On Tuesday, Nana & Gran were very brave and took us all to the zoo. My favorite was the birds. I also loved the train ride. Me & Mo-mo are not fighting in the picture. She's a pincher though & I'm a hitter. We have to keep each other in line, but we also love to play together (as long as I get the toy I want). For some reason, Nana & Gran collapsed on the floor once we got home. Guess they were just tired from all the fun!

On Wednesday & Thursday, Maddox & Mo-mo did not come over. I missed them, but was glad to get to get Nana & Gran all to myself. Gran & I love playing in the creek. He doesn't even care that I get dirty! Then, he lets me wash off & play with the water hose. Mommy & Daddy keep hiding ours at our house. I love to read books with my Nana. She didn't mind reading books over & over to me. And she didn't skip pages like mom does to hurry & finish the book.
I had a fun time & only gained 10 pounds. Thankfully though, I lost it wrestling & running away from the pincher. I had so much fun on the farm. Thank you Nana & Gran for being much cooler than my parents!

July 19-25

On Wednesday & Thursday, Aunt Lindsey came to spend a few days with Jake. He loved it & Robbie & I enjoyed the break! Thanks so much Aunt Lindsey!
Since it has been so hot, we decided Saturday to take Jake to the fountains downtown. I just knew that he would love it! And he did. For 15 minutes. Then he wanted to climb on the stone stairs, run in the park & chase a dirty kickball that was left behind by who knows who. But his favorite was playing on a metal bench nowhere near any shade or water. Really?!?! Why do kids do such weird things?! Rob & I were melting & it was barely 10:00!
(I promise Jake has more than this 1 swimsuit! Just for some reason, he is always wearing this whenever we have the camera!)
Enough time in the cool water. Let's walk around in the scorching heat in the park!
We then took Jake on his 1st carousel ride. (Chattanooga's wonderful downtown park includes a carousel.) He was very impatient waiting on it to start, but once it did, he loved it!

Excuse our sweaty melting look!
We finished up with lunch at Subway (way to0 hot for a picnic!) and spent the rest of the weekend in the cool indoors!

Discovery Museum

Saturday morning we went to the Discovery Museum with friends. This was Jake's first time going & he had a great time! Started having some meltdowns as it got close to nap time & lunchtime, plus it was getting crowded, so that was our cue to head out. We were there for an hour & a half though & would highly recommend it. Lots of fun!! (The pictures do not do justice. Jake refused to look at the camera for pictures, he was too busy running around.)

Digging for artifacts in the sand pit

He could have stayed here all day. He LOVES to stick his hands in water & play.

The meltdowns were starting to come (This is him lying on the floor crying. People were having to step over him. Not our finest!)
